Bio

Christy Pennison moved to Lafayette over 3 ½ years ago from small town, Ball, LA. She now calls Lafayette home and loves the people, food, music and culture. Christy came to Lafayette with the purpose of helping others achieve their maximum potential. Driven and motivated by a desire to promote change, she was given the opportunity to start up and develop a Home and Community Based Mental Health Rehabilitation Program to assist children, individuals, and families with their mental health needs. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and currently serves in a dual role as a Regional Director of Cognitive Development Centers of Seaside Healthcare and Director of the Phoenix Family Life Centers site in Lafayette. However, her most important job is “mommy” to her eight year old daughter, Kahlan. She often enjoys singing in her car, pretending to work out at the gym, laughing at corny jokes, attempting to cook, and disco dancing. She loves spending time with family and friends, meeting new people, and trying new things. She has served on the705 board for the past two years as Membership co-chair and would welcome the opportunity to support the organization through continued board service. Her motto is, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot nothing is going to get better, it’s not.” Dr. Seuss

Personal Statement

We have an opportunity as members of the705 to connect, engage, and lead not only young professionals, but our community. Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of serving members as Membership co-chair. I would welcome the opportunity to utilize the knowledge I have gained to assist the705 in continuing to develop initiatives aimed at connecting and engaging members with each other and the community. I can offer my skills, ideas, and experience to help us continue to grow, thrive, and lead. When I joined the705, I quickly learned the organization is not only an avenue for young professionals to connect with others, but to form friendships and have fun! I would like to expand and increase membership to include young professionals of all career paths while improving each member’s quality of their experience. I would be honored to continue to serve the705 members through board service.
