Dr. Gerd Wuestemann began his tenure as Executive Director of the Acadiana Center for the Arts in 2008. Since that date, the AcA has completed construction of a new, $25M, 60,000 sqft Visual & Performing Arts Center, while tripling its staff and budget and transforming its programming and identity. The new AcA has grown into a cultural hub, presenting over 120 diverse performances and over 40 visual arts exhibits per season, in addition to extensively working as an arts-in-education center, grant making agency and community development driver to eight parishes. In 2016 AcA was the winner of the Lt. Governor’s Louisiana Culture Award.

A graduate of Leadership Louisiana and NAS’ Global Executive Leadership Program, Dr. Wuestemann holds degrees from the Musikhochschule Frankfurt, The Julliard School, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and University of Arizona.
He served on the Boards of the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana Bicentennial, Comprehensive Planning Commission and the University’s Dean’s Advisory Committee. Dr. Wuestemann currently chairs State Arts Advocacy and is the co-founder of INNOV8, a Festival of creativity and entrepreneurship.
Prior to career-changing accidents in 2005, Wuestemann, a classical guitar virtuoso, began his performance career at age 12, has recorded 11 albums and performed thousands of concerts around the world.
