The705 Signature Speaker Series Featuring Jamira Burley – Intergenerational Harmony: Uniting for a Better Future
Fifty percent of the world’s population is under the age of 30, marking the highest youth population in history. This Internet-savvy, socially conscious, and world-changing generation is not only pushing back against the political, social, and economic constraints left by our predecessors but also actively working to bridge the generational divide and foster a shared understanding and common goals to improve our collective community. They are forging a new path that leads to increased expectations for the places and spaces that seek to serve, entertain, engage, and employ them.
This session is thoughtfully crafted to explore models and methods that go beyond engaging and retaining this highly emotionally intelligent population. It is designed to facilitate a dialogue that helps close the generational gap and cultivate a sense of shared purpose among individuals of all ages. Whether you aim to activate youth and young adults in program participation, fundraising efforts, volunteerism, or employment, we will address the following key aspects:
● Understanding your organization’s needs in the context of youth engagement, with an emphasis on building bridges between generations.
● Identifying and implementing proven methods, tools, and activities for engagement and activation that foster intergenerational collaboration.
● Recognizing the complexity, diversity, and unique needs of this non-monolithic youth population and fostering an inclusive approach that values their perspectives—exploring how individuals, organizations, and systems can collaborate more effectively to create a shared understanding and work towards common goals for community improvement.
● Develop strategies to evaluate what is and isn’t working in your efforts to bridge the generational divide and engage the youth population effectively.
In essence, this session aims to inspire and equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to engage with youth and build connections and understanding across generations. By doing so, we can collectively work towards a more cohesive and united community where everyone’s voice and contributions are valued and leveraged for the betterment of society.
