Hometown – Lafayette, La
What are one or two of your greatest business and/or community achievements?
I am very proud of an event I planned last summer where more than 60 of my colleagues worked together to prepare over 16,000 meals for donation to local organizations in just a two-hour timespan. I was able to draw on my expertise and work with a team to create an opportunity that brought my coworkers together for a shared purpose while directly addressing a vital need in our community. In both volunteer roles and professionally I take great pride in working alongside others to create meaningful community impact, knowing that the most lasting change happens through collaboration.
What’s your favorite thing about what you do for a living?
I am energized by creating programs that translate resources like time, skill, and effort into measurable community outcomes. Whether through large-scale service events or ongoing community partnerships, the ability to bring people together with a meaningful goal to create tangible impact is the most rewarding part of my job.
You shifted from working in clinical care into corporate social impact with early and continued success in your new field. What was the moment you knew social impact work was where you could make your biggest difference?
I feel really lucky, because I think all the work that I’ve done has been work that’s very impactful. The work that I did clinically tends to be very impactful on a personal level, because you’re working with someone who is navigating a particular diagnosis or a new injury, and you’re trying to help them get back to doing the things that they want to do and participate in life in the way that they want to. And so that’s extraordinarily meaningful.
Making the pivot into corporate social responsibility, I enjoy that I’m still able to carry forward helping people have an impact, but now I’m able to do that on a larger scale. The programs that I structure and the initiatives that I support now carry an impact across my company’s U.S. footprint. It’s really cool to go from having this really deep personal impact through clinical care, but then being able to also pivot and apply that at a macro level with impact diffusing across so many communities and so many people through corporate social impact.
So I love both things. My career path is not linear, and maybe one day I’ll fishtail back into clinical care again. I don’t take for granted how fortunate I am to find work that I feel passionate about and can dive into to serve as many people as I can.
